FOCUS YOUR ENERGY IN THE RIGHT PLACE
Generally, 70 to 80% of the exam questions surround the textbooks. The vast majority of your time and energy should be focused on the textbooks. Most experienced police officers can answer the majority of the legal questions with little or no studying. Once you have the books mastered use the remaining time to review the law. We recommend that the best way to prepare for the exam is to do the following:
1. Read a chapter in the textbook
2. Answer the questions in the study guide of the corresponding chapter
3. Review the flash cards of the corresponding chapter
4. Go onto the next chapter and follow steps 1, 2 & 3
5. Continue to review flash cards of previous chapters so you retain the information
6. When the book is complete listen to the audio CD of the same book at your leisure, such as commuting to work, while on patrol, running on the treadmill etc.
7. Go onto next book and follow steps 1 through 7 until all books are complete
8. Once all books are read continue reviewing study guides, flash cards and audio CD's You will soon master the material and be well prepared for the exam.
